Fay Park

Nestled in the heart of the Russian Hill Neighborhood, at the corner of Leavenworth and Chestnut Streets, lies a treasured urban oasis - Fay Park. This small yet captivating park is a testament to the city's rich history and commitment to preserving green spaces amidst its urban landscape.

Fay Park was once a private residence until 1998. The park surrounds the 1912 home built by brothers Luke Fay and John Fay, and was later bequeathed by Mary Fay Berrigan to the city of San Francisco. Today, it stands as a vibrant public space, offering residents and visitors a tranquil retreat from the city's hustle and bustle.

The garden at Fay Park was designed by the famous landscape architect Thomas Church in 1957. It features two gazebos, a large floral garden, and is a block away from Lombard Street's famous "crooked" block. These elements combine to create a picturesque setting that captivates all who visit.

Beyond its greenery, Fay Park also hosts the Fay-Berrigan house, adding an architectural dimension to its charm. The house, coupled with the meticulously maintained garden, makes Fay Park an attractive site for weddings and other special occasions.

Despite its central location, Fay Park remains a hidden gem on Russian Hill. Its proximity to several great cafes, restaurants, and outstanding views from every corner adds to its appeal.

Whether you're a local resident seeking a peaceful spot to unwind, a history enthusiast, or a visitor exploring San Francisco's charming neighborhoods, Fay Park offers a refreshing and fulfilling urban experience.
